The creation of the new corporate philosophy

The corporate philosophy of ml&s GmbH & Co. KG was originally created by management. Formulated in six sentences, it was somewhat cumbersome and not very memorable for our employees. For this reason, a new corporate philosophy was to be developed, one that would come from the employees themselves and reflect who we are as ml&s.

A project team was assembled from representatives of all areas, which, under the guidance of Steinicke Consulting, was tasked with creating a new corporate philosophy. Three workshop sessions were scheduled for its development, starting in March 2024.

In the first workshop, the team discussed the reasons for and against ml&s in order to identify strengths and areas for improvement. Against this backdrop, the then-current corporate philosophy was evaluated – the result: it did not fit ml&s. From the characteristics identified by the team, initial ideas for a vision were developed.

The second workshop built on this, and the team identified the six core values: Safety, Tolerance, Teamwork, Appreciation, Transparency, and Quality. These values were then to be defined by brainstorming relevant keywords/phrases. As homework, each team member was tasked with developing their own formulation of the values.

The final workshop began with a somewhat subdued mood, as much had already been worked on, but a cohesive whole had not yet emerged. On this day, the team had to break down what had been written, discard some parts, incorporate new ideas, and piece everything back together.

In the end, the team was presented with six vision proposals and the corresponding six values with their definitions – proud of what had been achieved and happy with the result.

The final step was the presentation to the executive board and then to the entire management team. The decision was almost unanimous: "From vision to success - together more than Manufacturing."
